Everything you want to know about Snel, training plans, and getting started.
Getting Started
Snel is an adaptive running training app. It generates personalised plans for every distance (5K through marathon), then adapts them based on your feedback and performance. Core training is free forever. Pro adds deeper integrations and intelligence.
Yes. The core training engine, plans for every distance, VO2max zones, basic adaptation, progress tracking, badges, and manual logging, is free forever, no credit card required. Pro is an optional upgrade (€9.99/month or €59/year) for deeper integrations and advanced intelligence. Founding members pay €49/year, locked for life.
Our first 1,000 email-confirmed users lock in Snel Pro at €49/year, and that rate stays as long as they stay subscribed. Regular annual pricing is €59/year. Join the waitlist on the start page to claim your founder spot.
No. Snel works with manual input on the free tier. If you want Strava, Garmin, or Apple Health auto-sync, that's included with Snel Pro.
About 2 minutes. You'll tell us your experience level, target race distance, race date, and preferred training days. Optionally enter a recent race time for precise zone calculation. Then your plan is generated instantly.
Training Plans
5K, 10K, 16K, Half Marathon (21.1K), and Marathon (42.2K). Each distance has its own template with appropriate volume, workout distribution, and periodization structure.
Plans range from 8 to 18 weeks depending on your race distance and experience level. A 5K plan for an experienced runner might be 8 weeks, while a first-time marathon plan is typically 16-18 weeks. The plan length is calculated based on how much time you have before your race date.
You can still use Snel. Set a target distance and a future date (even a rough one), and the app generates a plan to build your fitness toward that goal. Think of it as training toward your best potential performance, with or without a race bib.
Yes. During onboarding you select your preferred training days (3-6 days per week). Snel schedules your workouts on those days, placing quality sessions and rest days optimally within your available schedule.
VO2max & Training Zones
VO2max is a measure of running ability from Jack Daniels' Running Formula. It estimates your VO2max from a race result and maps it to five training zones (Easy, Marathon, Threshold, Interval, Repetition). One race gives you precise paces for every workout type.
No problem. Snel can estimate your VO2max from your comfortable easy pace. It's less precise than a race result, but gives a solid starting point. As you log workouts and feedback, the app refines your zones over time.
Two ways: (1) Run a B-race and log the result. Snel recalculates your VO2max and updates all zones immediately. (2) The adaptation engine detects if you're consistently running 15%+ faster than target and suggests a zone recalibration upward.
Adaptation & Feedback
RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) is a 1-10 scale of how hard a workout felt. It's the primary signal Snel uses to adapt your plan. If RPE is consistently high (8+), the app reduces volume. If it's consistently low (<4), it suggests increasing difficulty. Honest reporting is key.
Missing one workout redistributes key sessions across the remaining days that week. Missing 3+ workouts in a week triggers a full plan realignment, adjusting volume and phasing to account for the missed training without risking injury on the rebound.
Three layers: (1) Load monitoring caps weekly volume increases at 10%. (2) RPE accumulation tracking reduces volume after sustained high-effort days. (3) Body check pain signals trigger rest suggestions immediately. The goal is to catch overtraining before it becomes an injury.
About 10 seconds per workout. You rate your effort (RPE slider), check your body (good / tired / sore / pain), and optionally add a mood. That's it. The adaptation engine handles everything from there.
Account & Data
Yes. Your training plan, workout history, and feedback data are all exportable. We don't lock you into the platform. Your training data is yours.
Your training plan is cached on your device for offline access. You can view upcoming workouts and log runs without an internet connection. Data syncs automatically when you're back online.
Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. All data is permanently removed from our servers. This cannot be undone.
